Complexity
Is the hack interesting or difficult? Does the hack do more than fetch an API and display the response? Were there real technical challenges considered with the hack? Does the hack consider vulnerabilities? -
Originality
Is the hack more than a typical social/mobile/local application? Does it solve a current problem in a unique way? -
Quality/Polish
How is the user experience? Is it well designed and is the code easy to understand? Does it have documentation on how to use it, product specifications, continuous integration, etc? Is the hack ready to deploy? -
Usefulness
How practical is the hack? Would people actually use it? Does it satisfy a real need people have? Does it make a large impact on it’s targeted audience? How accessible is the application (i.e. hosted on a cloud service, open source, etc)? -
Pitch
How well is the project presented? Does it engage the audience and provide a clear explanation of the hack? Does the presentation demonstrate knowledge of material (i.e. how and why it works)? Does it make the hack more compelling?
